Frequently Asked Questions

Can I self-refer to the EXIT Program?

Yes! You do not need to have an agency or Case Manager refer you or complete your referral form for the EXIT Program.

How long is the waitlist?

The length of time you will spend on the waitlist depends on current capacity and your individual circumstances. We triage intakes based on safety and current support networks.

You will be given an estimated wait time during the intake process.

Does RESET provide short term shelter?

No, we are not an emergency shelter.

Our safe house and second stage homes are long term housing for EXIT Program Participants and their children only.

How long is the EXIT Program?

The EXIT Program is a 12+ month program.

It is individualized and each Participant graduates from the program when the Participant and Program Staff Team agree they are ready, rather than when they reach a specific amount of time in the program.

Do I need to detox before coming to the EXIT Program?

You do not need to detox prior to intake.

We will assess your detox needs during the intake process, but most Participants detox onsite at our safe house. If you require additional detox support, we will coordinate with community agencies to ensure you can transition from a detox or health care facility into the EXIT Program.

Where do my children live while I am in the EXIT Program?

If you have children in your care, they will live in our second stage homes with you.

Can I be employed while in the EXIT Program?

Participants are not allowed to be employed while in the EXIT Program. Upon Intake, we will set you up on Income Support to ensure you have income.

We ask that Participants do not work as the EXIT Program is a full-time commitment and we want you to take the time to focus on your recovery. As you progress through the program, you will begin to prepare for employment post-graduation.

Can I use my phone?

You will have not have access to your phone for the first (up to) 30 days.

While you are at the safe house, you will be able to make calls to family using the office phone, and can access your personal phone under supervision to access accounts/documents you may need.

Once you move to Phase Two of the EXIT Program you will be able to use your phone.
